Job Title: Actuarial Consultant
Reports To: Director of Actuarial Services
Classification: Full Time – Exempt., Working Remotely

Purpose of Position

The Actuarial Consultant (AC) will be responsible for the day-to-day management of an assigned caseload of client accounts, and preparation of actuarial work for those clients. The AC will have experience with client-facing management of Plan Sponsor and financial advisor relationships, will be knowledgeable of plan administration, ERISA, combined plan testing, and significant experience in Defined Benefit administration.

Responsibilities

  • Single point of contact and ownership for assigned clients and financial advisors
  • Creation of Plan Document, plan amendments and related items
  • Ensure compliance with DOL and IRS requirements
  • Preparation of Annual Items: Form 5500 series, PBGC Premium Filing and annual notices
  • Performing required testing regarding but not limited to Top Heavy, 401(a)(26), 410(b) and 401(a)(4) for assigned clients
  • Preparation of annual Actuarial Valuation
  • Represent the company on client calls and in client meetings, as needed
  • Guide assigned clients through the implementation of the retirement plans, working in conjunction with a Defined Contribution Client Service Manager
  • Manage retirement plan terminations and preparation of related plan termination materials

Competencies Required

  • Retirement administration and plan design experience in a professional environment
  • Experience with FT William software preferred
  • Strong competency with Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication
  • Must be detailed and possess strong organizational skills
  • Time management focused adhering to deadlines and timelines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • A demonstrated track-record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations
  • Ability to perform combined plan testing, utilizing cross-testing and New Comparability
  • Stellar interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate with teammates in a fast-paced environment

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 5 years of Defined Benefit experience, Cash Balance experience preferred
  • ASPPA QPA designation, or willingness to obtain such designation within an agreed to timeframe
  • Has managed a significant book of Defined Benefit business

Job Title: Client Service Manager
Reports To: Director of DC Administration

Purpose of Position

The Client Service Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of an assigned caseload of client accounts. The CSM will have experience with client-facing management of Plan Sponsor and financial advisor relationships and will be knowledgeable of plan administration and ERISA.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Single point of contact and ownership for assigned clients and financial advisors
  • Ability to accurately interpret and apply plan document provisions
  • Ensure compliance with DOL and IRS requirements
  • Preparation and filing of Form 5500 and related schedules, forms, as needed
  • Review of Compliance Team work for assigned clients
  • Represent the company on client calls and in client meetings, as needed
  • Have a working knowledge of custodian websites and processes
  • Support the retirement plan implementation, conversion, de-conversion Teams
  • Collection and review of annual census data and employer questionnaire

Competencies Required

  • Retirement administration and plan design experience in a professional environment
  • Experience with FT William software preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of Pension Pro workflow management system preferred
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication
  • Must be detailed and possess strong organizational skills
  • Time management focused adhering to deadlines and timelines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • A demonstrated track-record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations
  • Understand Form 5500 long form and requirements for audit support
  • Understand requirements for QDRO support

Education and Qualifications

Job Title: Combo Plan Administrator

Purpose of Position

For many clients, Maxus provides both administration and actuarial services to employers sponsoring more than 1 retirement Plan. Most often, these clients have both a Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit Plan (“combo client”). The Combo Plan Administrator is a Client Service Manager (CSM) responsible specifically for the Defined Contribution Plans within an assigned caseload of Combo Plan client accounts. The CSM will partner with an Actuarial Consultant on the relationship. The Actuarial Consultant will be responsible for all items pertaining to the Defined Benefit Plan and combined plan testing. The CSM will be responsible for all other items related to the Defined Contribution Plan.

Responsibilities

  • Management of Defined Contribution Plan component of Combo Plan relationships and coordination with Actuarial Consultants to ensure seamless communication and deliverables to clients and advisors
  • Recordkeeper navigation and reporting downloads as well as assisting clients in conversing with recordkeepers and navigating their process to achieve desired outcome
  • Defined Contribution corrections including 402(g) limit violations, 415 limit violations, late 401(k) deferrals, late employer contributions, failed ADP/ACP test, ineligible contributions, safe harbor true-up contributions, source deposit errors, earnings calculations, and VFCP filings
  • Preparation of balance forward valuations and associated distribution processing and questions
  • Client onboarding including but not limited to general client education regarding plan administration, recordkeeper implementation, and collecting takeover plan materials
  • Production and review of Form 5500 series and annual notices
  • Manage retirement plan terminations
  • Process documentation

Competencies Required

  • Retirement administration experience in a professional environment
  • Strong knowledge of recordkeepers systems and procedures
  • Must be detailed with exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently possessing a sense of ownership and accountability over tasks
  • Stellar interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate with teammates in a fast-paced environment
